Vagifem pessaries contain 10mcg estradiol and are used to relieve symptoms of vaginal atrophy such as dryness or irritation. The pessary is inserted into the vagina, so the hormone is released where it is needed to relieve discomfort quickly..

One vaginal pessary is inserted each day for the first 2 weeks, then reduced to twice a week. Three to four days gap is left between each dose.

Most people begin to notice improvements from HRT within a few weeks, but this can vary depending on your symptoms, the type and dose of HRT prescribed, and how your body responds. Symptoms such as hot flushes, night sweats, sleep disturbance and mood changes often start to improve within 2–4 weeks, while benefits for energy levels, joint aches, vaginal dryness and brain fog may take 6–12 weeks to fully settle.
