Lenzetto is a spray solution that contains small amounts of a medicine called estradiol. When sprayed onto the skin as directed, it passes through the skin into your bloodstream and travels throughout the body to alleviate symptoms. Lenzetto is used in women with at least 6 months since their last natural period and can also be used in women who have had surgery to remove their ovaries as this causes instant menopause. If you have not had a hysterectomy, you will need to take a capsule containing progestogen to offset the effects of oestrogens on the lining of your womb.

Because it passes straight from the skin into the bloodstream, Lenzetto bypasses the liver. This is different from HRT treatments that are taken as tablets, some of which are broken down by the liver before they can enter your bloodstream. This means that Lenzetto is an effective treatment at a lower dose than oral HRT.

The spray should be applied to the dry and healthy skin of the inner forearm. If that is not possible, it should be applied to the inner thigh. The starting dose is usually one spray per day but this may be increased to two sprays per day. The maximum daily dose is 3 sprays.

Most people begin to notice improvements from HRT within a few weeks, but this can vary depending on your symptoms, the type and dose of HRT prescribed, and how your body responds. Symptoms such as hot flushes, night sweats, sleep disturbance and mood changes often start to improve within 2โ€“4 weeks, while benefits for energy levels, joint aches, vaginal dryness and brain fog may take 6โ€“12 weeks to fully settle.
