FAQ's

Imigran is the branded version of Sumatriptan, which is a migraine-specific medication used to treat migraine attacks once they start. It works by narrowing overactive blood vessels in the brain and calming pain pathways, helping to relieve migraine headache and associated symptoms.

The usual starting dose is 50mg taken as soon as migraine symptoms begin. Some people may be prescribed 100mg if lower doses are not effective. A second dose can sometimes be taken if the migraine returns, but no more than 300mg in 24 hours (tablets).

Many people start to feel relief within 30–60 minutes of taking Sumatriptan, with maximum benefit often seen within 2 hours. It works best when taken early in the migraine attack, rather than waiting until the pain becomes severe.

Yes. In addition to relieving head pain, Sumatriptan can help improve migraine-related symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, sensitivity to light (photophobia), and sound sensitivity (phonophobia). If nausea is severe, your clinician may recommend combining it with an anti-sickness treatment.

Sumatriptan should not be used on more than 10 days per month.

Common side effects are generally mild and short-lived such as tingling or numbness, flushing, drowsiness or fatigue, dizziness, nausea, and dry mouth.
