FAQ's

Estriol 1mg/g cream is used to relieve vaginal menopausal symptoms such as dryness or irritation. Lower oestrogen levels may cause the vaginal wall to become thin and dry which can lead to pain during sexual intercourse and vaginal infections.

Use 1 application per day for the first weeks (maximally 4 weeks), followed by a gradual reduction, based on relief of symptoms, until a maintenance dosage (e.g. 1 application twice a week) is reached. It may take several days or weeks before you notice an improvement.

Most people begin to notice improvements from HRT within a few weeks, but this can vary depending on your symptoms, the type and dose of HRT prescribed, and how your body responds. Symptoms such as hot flushes, night sweats, sleep disturbance and mood changes often start to improve within 2–4 weeks, while benefits for energy levels, joint aches, vaginal dryness and brain fog may take 6–12 weeks to fully settle.

You’ll know HRT is working when symptoms become less frequent, less intense, or easier to manage, and your overall quality of life improves, for example, better sleep, more stable mood, improved focus, and feeling more like yourself again.

Bleeding or spotting, flu-like symptoms, headaches, increased vaginal discharge, irritation or itching of the skin in or around your vagina when you start to use this medicine which usually gets better after a few weeks, nausea, skin problems such as a rash or an allergy to the sun and swollen, tender, or painful breasts.

HRT is not suitable for everyone and carries a number of risks. These risks apply less to vaginally administered treatments such as this medicine. The following diseases are reported more often in women using HRT medicines which circulate in the blood compared to women not using HRT: Breast cancer, Abnormal growth or cancer of the lining of the womb (endometrial hyperplasia or cancer), Ovarian cancer, Blood clots in the veins of the legs or lungs (venous thromboembolism), Heart disease, Stroke, Probable memory loss if HRT is started over the age of 65.
